  • The Senior Ethics and Compliance Specialist serves as a resource to the Ethics and Compliance Department and the Corporate Ethics and Compliance Officer by providing a wide range of functions to assure that the MaineGeneral Health system is both compliant with laws, regulations and policies and maintains a respectful and appropriate work environment.

     

    Qualifications/Competencies:

    • 1 year of experience in healthcare compliance, health information, coding, health-care billing, reimbursement monitoring and/or reviewing medical records for compliance with regulations is required.
    • If the position is filled by a Registered Nurse, must have either a current State of Maine Registered Nurse (RN) license or an RN license recognized by the Nurse Licensure Compact (https://www.ncsbn.org/nlc.htm). If RN licensure is from a compact state, must obtain a state of Maine RN license within 90 days of changing primary residency to Maine
    • If the position is filled by a LPN, current State of Maine Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license required.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Compliance, Auditing, Health Information, Healthcare, Accounting, Finance, Nursing or related field required.
    • Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets and databases strongly preferred.
    • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills required.
    • Knowledge and understanding of CPT coding strongly preferred.
    • Knowledge and understanding of ICD-9 coding strongly preferred
    • Knowledge of Internal/Compliance Auditing Techniques strongly preferred
    • Knowledge of revenue cycle processes preferred.
    • Knowledge & understanding of UB92/HCFA 1500 billing requirements strongly preferred.
    • Must be detail-oriented and have effective problem solving skills.
    • Excellent written & verbal communication skills required.
    • Must be self-motivated with significant initiative to efficiently produce high quality work strongly.
    • Supervisory and/or management experience in Healthcare preferred.

    One of the following is required within 1 year of hire:

     

    • Registered Health Information Technology (RHIT)
    • Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
    • Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
    • Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
    • Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC)
