Decision Support Administrator

SUMMARY:  The Decision Support Administrator coordinates the planning, implementation, and maintenance of the integrated Performance Management System for Marshall Medical Center.  This position serves as a liaison between the organization and vendor in coordinating the development and ongoing utilization of the system and in supporting leadership in effectively leveraging clinical and financial data assets from multiple sources.  Ensures data integrity, security, and ongoing training of end users and analysts.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Education/Licensure/

Certification:

  • BA/BS Degree in Information Technology or relevant field required; will accept a candidate who has experience equivalent to a BA/BS including; more than 5 years previous experience in healthcare performing data mining between multiple systems and software, previous experience in the management and implementation of information technology systems, knowledge of relational databases and use of Structure Query Language (SQL) for data gathering.

 Knowledge:

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in decision support or 5+ years’ experience in healthcare, performing data mining/data analysis utilizing multiple systems and software required
  • Minimum of five years experience in data analysis required, preferably in a healthcare setting
  • Previous experience in Project Management
  • Ability to use SQL for data gathering/report creation
  • Experience in leading the implementation of new computer systems
  • Understanding of a wide variety of healthcare financial data including cost accounting, general accounting, budget, product line analysis and productivity
  • Knowledge in application of descriptive statistics and statistical process control methodologies, working knowledge of relational databases and SQL reporting tools and HL7
  • Knowledge of clinical Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement concepts
  • Familiarity with risk/severity adjustment methodologies
  • Understands basic coding of diseases/procedures and basic medical terminology desired, but not required

Skills:

·         Strong analytical skills are required

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Windows-based applications, including Word and PowerPoint required; advanced ability with Excel and Access software
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills required 
  • Ability to operate multiple computer systems and software packages
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment with frequent interruptions under minimal supervision
  • Ability to reprioritize work as needed
  • Previous experience in creating reports, dashboards, metrics, filters, and custom groups, and training other users and presenting to work groups
  • Excellent written and oral communication  
  •  Leadership skills/experience strongly preferred
