To perform all clerical functions in a physician's office. To include but not limited to: appointment scheduling, telephone answering and message taking, billing insurance claims, patient statements, post payments, distribute mail, filing, order office supplies as needed and coordinate physician enrollment with insurance carriers. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must be a high school graduate. Additional business and medical training preferred. Must be able to accurately type 40 wpm and be efficient with data entry equipment. Must have the ability to apply appropriate rules of grammar, spelling and punctuation. Knowledge of computers a necessity. Must have a good working knowledge of general office techniques and secretarial work as acquired through a combination of training and experience. Communication skills, both written and verbal must be above average. Must possess the ability to prioritize activities, organize work and problem solve. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Clear speaking voice, seeing with or without mechanical devices, hearing, sitting, walking, reaching, typing, computer usage, standing and lifting. Use of printers, computers, fax machines, typewriter, telephone, copying machine, calculator and paper shredders. WORKING CONDITIONS: Normal office. Occasional exposure to angry/hostile patients. Must be able to work under stressful situations and frequent interruptions.
