PRIMARY FUNCTION: To register patients for all ancillary departments. To gather and prepare materials necessary to admit Inpatients and Surgical Day Care patients. To call patients in order to get information for pre- registration/pre-admission. To confirm patient's time of arrival and/or time of anesthesia visit. To assign rooms in accordance with hospital regulations and Infection Control policies. To relieve switchboard and cashier when necessary. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school graduate or equivalent secondary education skills. Must have good verbal and numerical ability. Must be able to type 50 words per minute accurately and have legible handwriting. Must have knowledge of medical terminology and spelling of medical terms. Good spelling is essential. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to work first, second, and third shifts. Sits most of the day with intermittent standing and walking. Must be able to converse with patients under all types of injury and stressful circumstances.
