    ·         For safety reasons, qualified applicants must be able to speak and understand English sufficiently to perform safety requirements and demonstrate the ability to follow safety rules.



    ·         No experience necessary, will train



    ·         Ability to lift and transport bags of linen weighing up to 100 lbs.

    ·         Frequent stooping and crouching movements to remove linens from racks and baskets.

    ·         Requires constant grasping and pulling abilities and good hand eye coordination.

    ·         Must be able to stand for an eight hour shift.

    ·         Employs the use of repetitive motions on a daily basis

    ·         Must successfully complete Back School, an in-service and demonstration of safe body mechanics, within   

    90    days of hire, and annually thereafter.



    General Summary:  The Linen Worker III processes incoming soiled linens to ready then for the washing process.  Loads soiled linen onto soiled conveyor.  Sorts and separates soiled linens at soiled conveyor and in the soiled sort area.  Adheres and complies with company policies outlining procedures and techniques used in the handling of soiled linens.



    Essential Job Functions:


    1.  Ensures all guidelines pertaining to Universal precautions are adhered to on a daily basis.


    1. Wears protective gloves and barrier gown.  Also utilizes optional masks, caps, goggles or

    safety glasses, and shoe covers.  Also that these items must be removed and hands washed before going into clean areas and lunch room.


    1. Transports dirty linen from incoming racks and baskets to soiled conveyor belt opening bags during process.


    1.  Separates mops, rags, crash towels, dish towels, aprons, lab coats and specified scrub clothes.


    1.  Identifies heavily soiled linens and separates them to be washed in first floor extractors.


    6.     Removes linen, trash and foreign materials from racks and baskets.  Sterilizes all racks and baskets in

          the rack washer area, then pushes to clean side of laundry making sure traveled areas are not



    7.  Puts labeled dividers onto the soiled conveyor belt notifying sorters that accounts have been changed.

    8.  Sorts linens by items into specified laundry chutes ensuring each piece are counted properly.


    9.  Production Standards:


         a.  Feeding                                                                       2000 pounds per hour

         b.  Sorting                                                                          650 pounds per hour


    10. Keeps the chutes light frames clear of debris and linens to ensure accurate soiled counts.


    11. Operates soiled sort conveyors.


    12. Using lift lowers heavy soiled linen and other specified items from 2nd floor into designated chutes to first  



    13. Informs supervisor of problems pertaining to daily operations or equipment.


    14.  Follows established procedures when dealing with sharps, hazardous materials or customers

           lost and found items.


    15.  Practices set safety guidelines that pertain to equipment and the work environment,  Takes action to

           correct unsafe conditions.


    16   Keeps work area clean and sweeps daily at end of shift.


    17.  Cleans and disinfects soiled conveyor belts on a weekly basis. 


    18.  Watches for and identifies yellow bags, black bags and hazardous bags that take special processing.


    19.  Participates in mandatory in-services and/or CE programs as mandated by policies and

           procedures/external agencies and as directed by management.


    20.  Follows and understands the mission, vision, core values, Employee Standards of Behavior and

           company policies/procedures.


    21.  Performs other duties as logically assigned.
