Job Details:
  • High School Degree or GED required
  • Education:    

    ·        High School graduate or equivalent required.

    ·        Ability to understand, read, speak and write English to the level normally acquired by completing the 12th grade required.

    ·        Must be able to perform mathematical calculations to include addition, subtraction, multiplication and division preferred.



    ·        Will train but previous laundry experience desirable. 

    ·        Must have ability to exercise creativity to make logical operational adjustments when dealing with daily work assignments.



    ·        Ability to lift and transfering linens.

    ·        Ability to stoop, bend and crouch. 

    ·        Requires pulling, pushing and the ability to grasp.

    ·        A standing position requiring frequent walking.

         Computer background to run equipment effectively.

    ·        Must successfully complete Back School, an in-service and demonstration of safe body mechanics, within   

    90    days of hire, and annually thereafter.



    General Summary: 

    Under general supervision of the Laundry Supervisor.  This position requires the operation and understanding of several pieces of machinery to ensure safe and efficient operation of the Shared Service Systems rails and batch washer/dryer systems.  Individual keeps records, monitors laundry chemicals, quality of washed linens and checks equipment for malfunctions.  Is also directly responsible for maintaining plant's productivity of washed goods.



    Essential Job Functions:


    1.  Assist management staff by ensuring OSHA and JCAHO requirements are being met. 


    1. Monitors and operates the soiled sort counting operation which requires computer entry.


    3.    Must wear protective hearing in designated areas.


    4.    Monitors and operates rail system, assigning items to correct rails and ensures bags and lift stations are

           functioning properly.


    5.    Assigns soiled goods into tunnel washers.  Must monitor linen mix and forecast dryer availability to   

           ensure maximum washer productivity.


    6.    Ensures accurate load sizes are going into tunnel washers.  Adjusts loads when needed and reviews

           problem areas with supervisor.


    7.    Keeps productivity reports and other documentation as established by supervisor.


           8.   Monitors chemical usage on a daily basis.


           9.   Must effectively use overflow rails to maintain effective productivity. 


          10.  Must develop good knowledge of press operation.


          11.   Monitors and operates; tunnel washers, washer presses, shuttle console control, and dryers, meeting

                  productivity goals of 40 loads per hour.


           12.  Must be able to communicate effectively, collaborates with other laundry system operators to meet

                  productivity goals.


           13.  Monitors linen quality daily and tests PH levels of finished goods.  Alerts supervisor/manager on quality



           14.  Changes out and disposes of lint from dryers and lint trap system, on a schedule established by



           15.  Keeps equipment clean and work areas neat and organized.


           16.  Performs duties of washroom operator when needed.


           17.  Participates in mandatory in=-services and/or CE programs as mandated by policies and

                  procedures/external agencies and as directed by management.


           18   Follows and understands the mission, vision, core values, Employee Standards of Behavior and

                  company policies/procedures.


            19.  Other duties as assigned.
