Therapeutic Rad Physicist

Position Highlights:

  • The Clinical Physicist is responsible for performing the clinical physics activities relating to the division of Radiation Oncology under the direction of the Chief Clinical Physicist.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Has Experience with external and internal radiation applied to the treatment cancer.
  • Has Knowledge of treatment planning equipment, radiation measuring equipment, calibration procedures, linear accelerator operation, brachytherapy and national protocols.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform quality control on the treatment machines and monitor the results to verify consistent, accurate performance.
  • Maintain current calibrations on the treatment machines as directed by national protocols to ensure compliance with state regulations.
  • Perform the necessary tests on the physics measurement equipment to verify proper operation.
  • Maintain communication about machine operation with the Chief Clinical Physicist and the appropriate service personnel, and coordinate servicing activities.
  • Provide technical assistance to the dosimetrists in the performance of their duties.

Credentials and Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in Physics or related field, or Bachelors Degree in Physics Engineering specializing in Medical Physics required.
  • Three years in a radiation therapy department working in dosimetry and Physics required.
  • Licensed by the State of Florida Department of Health in Therapeutic Radiological Physics.
