Position Highlights:

  • Will be responsible for the clinical and medication use policy of the pharmacy information system, the integrated medical record, clinical documentation system, and the prescriber medication order entry systems.
  • Responsible for the coordination of medication informatics system with an understanding of changing scientific and biomedical evidence, principles for safe practice, dynamic medication distribution system, and maturing technology.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Will have a Pharm D.
  • Has prior experience with Pyxis (Profile) and Cerner (PharmNet) build, implementation, and maintenance especially as functionality applies to a BCMA (bar code medication administration) and supply-chain.
  • Has extensive experience with computer applications, including pharmacy applications, word processing, spread sheets, data base management, and report/label generation.


  • Facilitates the development of Cerner Medication Integration (PowerChart/ PharmNet) and all affected downstream pharmacy automation systems e.g. Pyxis tailored to departmental use and future business need.
  • Builds systems applications according to department specifications.
  • Coordinates technical system changes with I.T. Department staff and Pharmacy staff.
  • Maintains knowledge of general clinical pharmacist practice within the hospital.
  • Facilitates the implementation and maintenance of medication databases for intravenous "Smart Pump" technology to enhance safety and documentation.
  • Performs other personal assigned duties as requested by Pharmacy Management.
  • Performs other responsibilities as assigned by Pharmacy Operations Manager as determined in the department strategic planning process.

Credentials and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy required. Pharm D preferred.
  • Licensed as a Pharmacist in the state of Florida required.
  • Either 2 years hospital pharmacy experience or residency or informatics related Masters' degree required.
  • Previous work in a hospital or other healthcare practice preferred.
  • Proficient in implementing, enhancing, and maintaining healthcare information systems with an emphasis on pharmacy automation requirements. Good analytical and data management skills.
