The Director, Cancer Knowledge Base and Pharma Services, will work internally with M2Gen IT, Bioinformatics, Medical Informatics and product teams and externally with pharma sponsors to provide top notch bioinformatics analysis support to pharma and cancer center collaboration projects. The person in this position will also be responsible for development of a comprehensive knowledge base that incorporates all critical data for cancer genomics and genetics, cancer cell evolution, disease progression and response to treatments.

Specific duties include building a talented workforce, evaluating approaches and platforms for a knowledge base, integrating internal and external knowledge/datasets for a "live text book of cancer genomics and genetics", to describe and predict cancer response and evolution under various treatments. This position is also responsible for development and execution of pharma collaboration projects in support of pharma discovery and development programs. The responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to, forming collaboration concept, designing the project, developing analysis plan and seeking input, guiding and executing analysis, communicating and reporting on analysis results.

An ideal candidate will be a well-known expert on bioinformatics, data analysis and cancer genomics and genetics. He/she will need to be very familiar with pharma drug development process and cancer drug pipelines, especially targeted therapies and immunoncology, have experience with people leadership, and demonstrate a significant track record of success in real world problem solving and peer reviewed publication.

Experience and Education Required:

·       Ph.D. in Bioinformatics or related field

·       7+ years of experience of bioinformatics and data analysis after Ph.D.

·        7+ years supporting cancer drug development, 3+ years supporting immunoncology

·        Strong leadership skills coupled with the ability to lead and influence cross-functional, cross-company teams as we establish new capabilities

The Ideal Candidate demonstrates:

·        Solid programming skills in R or high level programming language

·        Extensive expertise in omics data analysis, data QA/QC

·        Expert in biomarker discovery

·        Expert in cancer genomics and genetics, knowledge on current research progresses

·        Knowledge of public databases (e.g. TCGA, ICGC, cBioPortal) and data visualization tools (e.g., IGV, UCSC genome browser)

·        Willingness and ability to learn new skills quickly

·        Passion for science and oncology

·        Ability to work effectively in a team environment with research scientists, biotech/pharma, cancer center IT/informatics personnel, data managers, programmers, and statisticians

·        Excellent communication and networking skills with an ability to communicate complex matters in laymen's terms both written and orally.

·        Ability to build an industry leading team through strong personal relationships

·        Capability to identify individuals with the appropriate collaborative mindset

·        Ability to multi-task and handle several complex internal / external relationships at a time
