High school graduate with one year additional education in secretarial science or related courses and/or equivalent experience in a secretarial position requiring exercise of judgment. Additional college or business courses preferred. Typing skills of 45 words per minute with minimal errors or data entry skills demonstrated. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred. Ability to use standard office equipment. Communicate effectively in verbal and written English and by telephone. Ability to bend, twist, reach, stoop, access areas of office environment. Move paperwork and/or supplies weighing up to 20 pounds. Experience with PC systems. Word processing/keyboarding required. Excel and Word preferred. Good oral and organizational skills. Basic mathematical and computation skills. Meet MHH established requirement for proof of health status. Additional requirement for those work directly with customers: performance history of strong customer relations.
Maintains all department files in an accurate and timely manner (correspondence, patient files, and department records) while observing confidentiality. Responsible for the safety and confidentiality of all the records. Enters data into the computer per procedure. Follows all department and hospital procedures related to the use of the Homeworks/Network system or PC Network system. Backs up other positions in the department as assigned. Works with minimal supervision. Complies with MHH and department policies, procedures and guidelines.
