RN Data Specialist-Vascular
Department: Performance Improvement/Patient Safety

Job Details:


Graduate of a recognized accredited school of nursing and currently registered in good standing with the State of Michigan. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required.

Knowledge of Endovascular and Open Vascular disease etiology, treatment and medications.

Demonstrates critical thinking in the area of vascular related care and outcome management.

Minimum of three to five years of experience including clinical nursing experience in an acute care setting.

Ability to utilize databases, word-processing, spreadsheets, presentation programs and other software relevant to the job. Knowledge of statistical concepts and data analysis tools. Requires excellent communications skills and a positive customer relation orientation. Demonstrates knowledge and practice of confidentiality as it pertains to the handling of information sensitive to Munson Healthcare. Regularly communicates both orally and in writing with physicians, management and healthcare professionals to make presentations, discuss findings, answer questions, and obtain or exchange information pertinent to their information requirement.

SPECIFIC DUTIES Self-directed, organized professional who is able to function autonomously. Works with the Vascular Department Physicians in the development of assigned Vascular registries and database development, including data collection, quality checks and maintaining security. Manages data collection from several sources including Powerchart, data collection forms, patient charts, and other Hospital Information Systems as related. Performs quality checks to ensure integrity of data. Abstraction and interpretation of patient medical records with in-depth chart reviews regarding Vascular disease etiology, treatments and medications. Assists in the analysis and response to data on and about MMC from external sources. Reports data/information. Determine who is to receive the data/information, how to get it to the customer and when they need it. Keep in mind the privileged and confidential nature of the information. Maintains knowledge of current regulatory requirements. Supports Medical Staff Committee, such as the Performance Improvement and Munson Medical Center/Munson Healthcare's plan for performance improvement with data analysis and other requested information. Prioritizes work to meet assigned commitments and deadlines; keeps others informed when potential delays surface. Assist in the development and completion of data analysis reports as required by external and internal customers. Attends committee meetings for the Vascular Department as appropriate and directed. Performs RN Data Specialist staff functions as well.
