ENTRY REQUIREMENTS - LPN II

 

Currently licensed as a Practical Nurse in the State of Michigan.

 

BCLS certification

 

Must be NAPNES certified, graduated from a laddered program, have taken pharmaceutical courses and is able to demonstrate competency, or have previous experience passing medications.

 

Demonstrated ability to use the computer with Windows format or demonstrate competency with this format within a period defined by the nursing orientation policy. 

 

Demonstrates ability in using the computer with Windows format preferred.

 

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS - OFFICE MEDICAL ASSISTANT

 

Graduate of an approved medical assistant program (AAMA) and minimum of 6 months experience in an ambulatory primary care office setting, or equivalent training and work experience.

 

Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.  Must possess the ability to work independently while maintaining a team effort.

 

Knowledge of medical terminology, diagnosis and procedure coding, insurance billing, scheduling, typing, and the use of multi-line phones.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES

 

      Responsible for maintaining patient flow by utilization of appropriate scheduling and recall techniques for office appointments, consultations, tests, procedures and referrals.  Co-ordinates patient's scheduling with physicians and resident schedules.

 

 

      Greets and interacts with patients, visitors and others in a courteous and professional manner at all times.

 

      Answers a multi-line phone.  Takes complete and accurate message returns appropriate phone calls.  Provides the right information when answering questions.  Gives and receives information required by Family Practice Clinic.  Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.

 

      Coordinates patient billing with the billing service.  Obtain or verifies accurate demographic and insurance data, and authorizations at each visit.  Accurately completes encounter forms on a daily basis including charge data, diagnosis code, procedure code, and other needed billing information.  Assumes responsibility for maintaining smooth and consistent patient flow during the scheduling check-in and check-out process.

 

     Prepares a deposit on a daily basis whenever receipts are received in the Family Practice Clinic.

 

     Refers to clinical questions to the office nursing and/or physician staff.

 

     Runs errands as needed, picks up dictation, picks up supplies and other materials needed for proper PFC operation.

 

     Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
