A Senior Systems Analyst works under general direction having an overall broad depth of hospital and information systems technology. A person in this position can conduct a business requirement reviews, includes business and user needs, documents requirements, formulates business requirements, generates systems scope and objectives for complex information systems, makes suggestions for workflow and process improvements, modifies, tests and implements 3rd party software or creates programmatic/scripted solutions, leads small to mid-size teams on mid-size to large projects (80 – 120 hrs) involving more-complex systems with moderate integration. Fully documents requirements, testing, code/script, processes and workflow. A Senior Systems Analyst in this position is expected to guide and advise less experienced analysts.
Required Experience/Education- must have one of the following:
· Associate’s degree (preferably IS/Business or healthcare emphasis) with four years’ relevant experience (IS/Business or healthcare)
· Bachelor’s degree (preferably IS/Business or healthcare emphasis) with two years relevant experience (IS/Business or healthcare)
· Six years in healthcare or IS/Business experience
Experience in healthcare beneficial
Required Technical Knowledge:
· General understanding of:
Common technical terminology
· Working knowledge of:
MS Desktop products
Common programming languages (like C++ and Java)
IT Selection and Implementation Methodology
Software design and development best practices
Required technical documentation including flowcharts
Interpreting vendor technical requirements
Relational database concepts
Operating Systems (such as AIX, Windows, MAC and Linux)
Types of hardware, storage, computing capacity of computers and end user devices
Back up processes and disaster recovery
Computer security procedures and protocols
Report writing tools
Under the general supervision of a Manager, but may receive advice and assistance from other
leaders/managers of Information Systems .
