Summary: The essential function is to assist the physicians and nurses with patient flow and clinic-related duties.

a) Current BLS required
b) MA or CNA certificate preferred

Typical Physical Demands:
a) Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
b) Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
c) Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
d) Requires correct vision and hearing to normal range.
e) Requires working under stressful conditions.
f) Requires some flexibility in daily work hours.
g) Exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
Personal and Professional Responsibilities
a) Greet and escort patients to appropriate clinic areas and instruct patients in gowning routine.
b) Obtain vital signs and pertinent information and chart, accurately and legibly.
c) Chart medication dosage and frequency, accurately and legibly.
d) Perform 12-lead EKGs and rhythm strips.
e) Assist with device patient monitor hookup for interrogation.
f) Check patient charts for pending office visits to ensure all necessary paperwork and testing are complete.
g) Contact new office consults to confirm appointment; remind patient to bring completed forms, meds and records to appointment, answer any questions.
h) Stock work areas and maintain supplies; keep work areas clean and orderly.
i) Assist RNs with patient follow-up and clerical duties as assigned.
j) Assist in transporting patients, records, etc, when necessary.
k) Review the medical record, requesting missing documents pertinent to cardiac care of the patient.
l) Keep abreast of and follow organizational policies, processes, in-house communications, and new developments in the field.
m) Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
n) Ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
a) Ability to accurately obtain Blood pressure readings and heart rates.
b) Proficient in using HCM computer systems.
c) Good written and verbal communication skills.
e) Ability to provide accurate documentation.
f) Knowledge of medical terminology.
g) Knowledge of clinic protocols and policies.
