- Visits and assesses spiritual needs of patients. Provides spiritual and emotional support to patients, families and personnel at times of crisis and in difficult situations. Provides opportunities for the reception of Sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist and Sacrament of the Sick. Is available for the emergency administration of the Sacrament of Baptism. Records information on the administration of the Sacraments in the proper register. Graduate of an accredited college or university preferred. Certification with the National Associate of Catholic Chaplains preferred. Must be a compassionate individual with empathy for patients, family and staff as well as a good listener and be able to handle/deal effectively with people in an emergency situation. Experience in spiritual care in a health care setting is also preferred. Must be committed to working as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
