Under the general supervision of the Certified Dietary Manager, Food Production Manager, Director of Food Service, A.M. and P.M. Supervisors, the Diet Aide 1 is responsible for the breaking down of patient and cafeteria trays, washing and sanitation of pots, pans, dishes, serving utensils, patient tray service items, assistance with transporting food, keeping ware washing areas neat, cleaned and sanitized, and minor food production.



Diet Aide 1 will notify the Certified Dietary Manager, Food Production Manager, Director of Food Service or Supervisors of problems in the ware washing area to include; mechanical problems, ware washing temperature problems, and equipment failure.


Education:   High school education or equivalent; an equivalent combination of experience and education can be substituted.


Experience: 0 to 3 months in general food service.


Licensure, Registration, Certification:   None required.


Mental/Physical Requirements: Mental ability required to follow written and verbal instructions and perform simple math tasks.  Long periods of standing and walking.  Ability to read and write.  Ability to learn and understand policies and procedures related to patient feeding, cleaning, sanitation, safety and operation of ware washing equipment.  Ability to lift up to 30# during shift.



Working conditions:  May come in contact with patients.  Will experience heat and noise from the kitchen, and ware washing areas.  Will experience wet floors and exposure to hot steam, water, chemicals, glass breakage and sharp knives.
