Basic Life Support (BLS) Required

This job provides care for patients in specialty clinic or physician practice settings utilizing basic nursing practice knowledge and skills.
Evaluation: Records patient care delivered as planned and any variation, with appropriate rationale.
Assessment: Collects patient data and completes required forms with appropriate responses according to clinic standards; identifies patient's overt problems/needs and sets priorities.
Implementing/managing care: Care provided conforms to accepted practice standards; provides correct treatments/procedures and other care as prescribed and according to patient care standards; demonstrates understanding of age-related characteristics and needs of patients served; explains nursing procedures in appropriate forms; provides discharge teaching; identifies emergency situations and takes appropriate action; understands and demonstrates respect for patient rights and identifies mechanisms for management of ethical issues in patient care.
Planning care: Follows patient care plan developed by the clinic nurse.
Maintains patient confidentiality: Complies with HIPAA and compliance guidelines established by the practice.
Assists physicians in preparing for examinations and minor procedures.
Performs all other tasks and projects assigned by the clinic manager or physicians.
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing.
Experience: Two years' experience as a licensed practical nurse preferred.
Licensure, registry or certification required: Must be licensed as a licensed practical nurse (LPN) in South Carolina; BLS or BCLS required.
