The CRNA administers anesthesia for surgical procedures by inhalation, intravenous and regional technique, as indicated. Manages and maintains patient under general anesthesia, regional anesthesia or monitored anesthesia care (MAC). Evaluates patient response to anesthesia. Supervises the post-anesthesia care unit. Assures safe recovery of patients from anesthesia prior to discharge to the patient care area. Performs pre and post operative visits with each surgical patient. Educates surgical team personnel and nursing staff regarding anesthesia issues, as required. Cleans and maintains anesthesia equipment and supplies. Works week days, depending on surgical schedule, and is available for call duty for emergency surgery and other related emergencies, as required. Maintains stock levels of equipment and supplies and supervises the proper maintenance of all equipment. Responsible for preparation of monthly and on-call schedules. Responsible for the department PI program and inservice education. Serves as liaison with Administration and other departments in the hospital.
Required: Graduation from a school of professional nursing. Graduation from a nurse anesthesia program. Experience in the administration of all types of general and regional anesthesia. Two years experience post anesthesia program completion as CRNA. Current WV professional nursing license. Current certification/recertification as CRNA. Current BLS and ACLS Certification. Ability to become credentialed through Medical Staff credentialing process.
Preferred: Master's degree in Nursing. NALS Certification.
