Riverside Doctors' Hospital located in Williamsburg, Virginia is seeking a Full Time CITAC Coordinator to join their team.
JOB SUMMARY: Works under the supervision of the Emergency Department Director. Takes measures to ensure a safe environment for the transfer of custody of persons subject to emergency custody orders by local law enforcement and others authorized to invoke such orders. Understands applicable laws and procedures related to mental health statutes. Works in collaboration with Colonial Behavioral Health Emergency Services staff to screen law enforcement referrals and insure that a safe custody transfer can occur. Completes transfer of custody form along with Law Enforcement officer to receive patients under Emergency Custody into the CITAC. Provides services and assistance, as outlined by policies and procedures and directed by Management, to make the facility safe for employees, patients and visitors and to meet the expectations of Riverside Health System. Responsible for the scheduling of CITAC Officers. Works with Colonial Behavioral Health (CBH) staff, RHS Security/Protection Director and RDHW Administration on program development, as part of a multi-disciplinary advisory team. Oversees incident reporting. Performs outreach with law enforcement, employee awareness and workplace violence.
EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associates Degree or higher in Criminal Justice or Psychology preferred. Must have or required to complete 40 hours of core Colonial Area Crisis Intervention Team Training within 120 calendar days of employment date.
CERTIFICATION: Active Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) preferred. DCJS Certification and completion of CIT Training.
EXPERIENCE: At least 4 years of military police, law enforcement or security experience required. Must have a good understanding of crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques. Demonstrates knowledge of local and state laws, knowledge and ability for defensive tactics and subject control techniques, as well as knowledge and proficiency of the Use of Force continuum.
