Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, VA is currently seeking a full-time Medical Technologist (MT/MLS) or Medical Lab Tech (MLT) for 2nd shift.

The Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Lab Tech (MLT) performs technical procedures in such areas as Hematology, Chemistry, Serology, and Urinalysis according to established protocols and standard operating procedures. The MT/MLT is required to follow all quality control and quality assurance guidelines established in the department to include accurate performance, review and documentation. Perform routine maintenance of departmental equipment and procedures to include inventory control, preventive maintenance and troubleshooting. The position participates in all aspects of Proficiency testing and in maintaining a constant state of readiness in the department to meet all Standards for accreditation from College of American Pathologist (CAP), Joint Commission, State, OSHA, AABB, CLIA, etc. The MT/MLT assists in the training of new and existing personnel as well as students. The MT/MLT performs the responsibilities of lead technologist in the absence of an on site supervisor when designated as such.

Education: Bachelors degree or Associates Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology; Clinical Lab Science or equivalent degree in health science.

Licensure: MT/MLT Alternative must meet eligibility requirements for ASCP.

Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in clinical laboratory preferred. Ability to operate technology/equipment consistent with current industry standards. Working knowledge of computers.

Hours: full-time, 2nd shift
