Riverside Healthy Living Community is currently looking for a Full Time Household Mentor/Activities Manager!

Description: The Household Mentor works in partnership with the Household Nurse Mentor to promote resident and guests well-being and satisfaction by supporting resident-guest directed care. The Household Mentor provides leadership to the household team, keeps the overall functioning of the household running smoothly, and fortifies the vision of the household. The Mentor supervises employees within the scope of licensure and household responsibilities. As a working leader, the Household Mentor performs tasks essential to the direct care of the residents and guests according to facility and RHS policies and procedures. The Mentor assures the households ability to plan and carry out interests and social activities to meet resident and guest wishes and to promote the psychosocial well being of all residents and guests. The Mentor facilitates a real team approach that empowers staff, residents and guests to make autonomous decisions. As an employee of the household, the Household Mentor is considered a versatile worker and is cross-trained in different functions of the household within scope of licensure (if applicable) in order to meet resident and guest needs as they occur.

Education:  Prefer a 4 year college degree with course work in Recreation Therapy, Gerontology, Education, Mental Health, the Arts or other related field. Upon employment must be willing to complete the Social Service Designee course.  

Certifications:  AHS Heart Saver AED certification is required within 30 days of hire. Current and valid Virginia Driver's license with acceptable driving record is required. 

Experience:  Two years leadership experience preferably in senior living, family and aging services, mental health, children's services, the arts, or teaching is strongly preferred.

 All candidates must meet one of the following requirements: 

- Have one year of full-time work experience within the last five years in an activities program in an adult care setting 

- Prior to or within six months of employment, have successfully completed 40 hours of department approved training in adult group activities and in recognizing and assessing the activity needs of residents.  

Hours: Primarily days with weekend rotation.
