Riverside Regional Medical Center is seeking experienced emergency nurse candidates for a Nurse Manager opening with the ED Observation Unit.  

Job Summary: Responsible for integration of the nursing process to include, coordination/management of patient care and the organizing, planning, directing, and evaluating of Services provided with a core focus on Facility and associated departments. Provides leadership, direction and mentorship/support to the staffing needs for the designated specialty area(s). As a Clinical Expert, ensures the provision of clinically competent services by validating staff competency in the provision of a comprehensive range of services/care in accordance with standards of excellence, age-specific and cultural sensitivity established by Riverside Health System and facility goals and strategic plans. Performs other duties as assigned. The Observation unit includes 20 beds. The nurse manager is also is the Chest Pain Coordinator overseeing Chest Pain Accreditation.

Riverside began serving the Virginia Peninsula community in 1916. In 1963 Riverside moved to the present 72-acre location in Newport News on J. Clyde Morris Boulevard. A 450-bed facility, Riverside Regional Medical Center is the Virginia Peninsula's most comprehensive medical facility combining the most recent computerized medical technology with a healing environment. The Pavilion is a 250,000 sq. ft., $107 million, 3-story addition to Riverside Regional Medical Center, which opened in 2013. This acute care facility provides a regional cancer care center, the Peninsula regions' only comprehensive stroke center, the area's only open-heart surgery program, the region's only Level II Trauma Center, and a cornerstone neurosciences program that includes the Chesapeake, Riverside, and University of Virginia Radiosurgery Center.

Education: Requires a Bachelor's in Nursing or willing to obtain BSN within specified timeframe. MSN (for clinical nursing) or masters in related field preferred. Certifications preferred (i.e. CEN)

Certifications/Licensure: Licensed or eligible by the state of Virginia as an RN. ACLS Certification preferred. CEN is preferred. 


• Progressive leadership experience which provided opportunities to develop skills in nursing practice if applies, and/or in application of administrative principles is required. 

• Concentrated experience in emergency services is desirable.

• Knowledge of regulations, policies, procedures, accreditation standards is required.
