Job Summary:

An orthopedic attendant (OA) is required to be flexible with daily scheduling and must be able to transition from the inpatient to outpatient setting. An OA works under the direct supervision of a licensed therapist or assistant, the Rehab Services Management, and ultimately responsible to the Rehab Services Director. An OA assists a licensed therapist in the provision of physical therapy, speech therapy, and/or occupational therapy treatments in accordance with state practice and professional guidelines. An OA will also be available to the facility as a resource to assist with splinting, casting, and management of equipment and supplies related to orthopedic diagnoses. This position may also perform other assigned duties. An OA must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to assist in providing age, goal, and diagnosis appropriate care. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development throughout the life span, and be able to interpret information to identify age-specific needs and provide appropriate care accordingly. This position must also be able to follow and adhere to the practices described in the Departmental Policy and Procedure Manual.
