Riverside Health System in Newport News, VA is currently seeking a full-time Genetics Counselor.
Job Summary: The primary purpose of the Genetic Counselor position is the delivery of genetic counseling services to individuals at risk for hereditary or familial cancer. The Genetic Counselor performs all leadership and administrative duties related to the Cancer Genetic Counseling Services at Riverside. The Genetic Counselor functions as part of a multidisciplinary team including physicians, nurses, and other allied health personnel and serves as a resource to the team for issues related to hereditary cancer.
Education: Master's degree in genetic counseling, human genetics, or equivalent preferred.
Certification: Required to obtain within 1 year of hire date: Board certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling (CGC certification) or American Board of Medical Genetics in Genetic Counseling.
Experience: 1-3 years' experience as a genetics counselor in an oncology program preferred.
