Blue Ridge PACE is growing and looking for talented, experienced employees who have an interest in working with older adults. PACE is a community-based program which provides participants with all necessary health services while they stay in their homes. It covers many different types of services including a day center, personal care in the home; home based emergency response system, transportation to appointments, delivery of medical supplies, therapy, as well as inpatient services.
The Universal Care Partner, Nurse Aide works under the general supervision of the Recreation Activities Day Center Manager or the Home Care Manager. The position performs tasks both within the PACE day center and the PACE participants homes which support the social, physical and cognitive functioning of seniors with impairments. These services include activities of daily living, restorative care and recreational activities. May accompany participants during bus/van transportation as needed and requested. The UCP demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care which includes: assisting with recreational activities; participatory activities such as bingo and board games; memory stimulation games; motor activities and engaging participant in conversations; serving and assisting in the feeding of participants; personal care to include grooming, bathing and toileting; changing linens; escorting participants to medical appointments; assisting transportation department Drivers with participants on and off the vans and occasional laundry. Will also be required to provide care in the participant's home a minimum of 1 weekend a month. Supports and lives out the Riverside Care Difference.
EDUCATION: High School graduate or equivalent. Graduate of State of Virginia approved Nurse Aide Training Program.
LICENSURE: Licensed by the State of Virginia as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) required. Proof of current, valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required upon hire and to be maintained during employment. CPR certification and First Aid training must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained during employment.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 1 year experience with a frail and elderly population required. Previous experience in the field of Nurse Aide, Personal Companion, Personal Care Aide preferred.
HOURS: Ability to work varying shifts between 6am-6pm Monday through Friday. If assigned to provide care in the participant's home hours are day shift, evening shift and weekend shift.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to move about in the home and facility and stand or sit for extended periods of time. Ability to lift, push, stoop and pull in order to ambulate/transport patients assisted and unassisted. Must be able to exert up to 20-50 pounds of force occasionally and 10-25 pounds of force frequently and up to 10 pounds of force constantly.
