Riverside Doctor's Hospital in Williamsburg, VA is currently recruiting for a Surgical 1st Assistant or OR Registered Nurse to work labor pool in our state of the art surgical suites.

Riverside Doctors' Hospital opened in May 2013 and is licensed for 40 private rooms - 33 Medical/Surgical rooms and 7 Intensive Care rooms. Surgical Services features 2 operating rooms, in addition to the 2 ORs already located at Riverside Doctors' Surgery Center, and 8 private patient preparation and recovery rooms dedicated to patients undergoing surgical procedures. The Surgical 1st Assistant will serve as first or second assistant on all surgical cases, under the direction of the surgeon to provide technical assistance as required by the type of procedure being performed. Takes an active role in patient preparation and readiness, assists with the surgical suite room turnaround, equipment management, and has knowledge of special soft equipment specific to each surgical specialty. Stays current on service nuances, attends surgical updates and is vigilant in all efforts towards sound infection control practices. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to age of the patient served. Assists the surgical team in room preparation, sterilization of equipment, gathering supplies and room turnaround. Cardiac First Assistant demonstrates competency with vein harvesting techniques -open and endoscopic incision, identifying landmarks, appropriate vessel, and closing.

Education: Graduate of an accredited Surgical Assistant Program or equivalent.

Certification/Licensure: Must be a licensed / certified Surgical Assistant OR a licensed Registered Nurse with no restrictions and must be CPR certified.

Experience: Minimum of 6 months of previous OR experience required
