Job Summary: The Primary Nurse Aide Instructor works under the supervision of the Program Coordinator and is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the curriculum. The instructor teaches classroom and clinical components of the program and revises the curriculum and related educational materials as assigned. The instructor assists in the development and evaluation of student admission, progression, retention, graduation and related program and school policies. The instructor is accountable for student outcomes and is a resource for students, providing support, remediation, academic counseling, and referral as needed. The instructor actively engages in scholarly pursuits to enhance metaprofessional skills and support learning in the areas of educational theory, instructional design and delivery, and assessment, and Virginia Board of Nursing program approval. Each member of the faculty shall maintain professional competence in their specific discipline through such activities as practice, continuing education programs, conferences, workshops, seminars, and academic courses. The instructor participates in community and institutional service activities which contribute to the mission of RHS. The instructor performs other duties as assigned. When indicated, a nurse aide instructor may work in the capacity of an associate nurse aide instructor, in accordance with Virginia Board of Nursing requirements.
Educational Requirements: Graduate of an accredited registered nurse program. Associate in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelors (BSN) preferred.
Certification/Licensure Requirements: Current unencumbered license as a Registered Nurse or a multi-state licensure privilege to practice in Virginia.
Experience Requirements: Primary Instructor – Two years of experience as a registered nurse within the previous five years and at least one year of experience in the provision of long-term care facility services.
