Job Summary: The Regional Financial Analyst serves as the Finance representative for the assigned area and the integration of acute and non-acute services (i.e. physician practices, ambulatory surgery centers, diagnostic and imaging centers, skilled nursing facilities, home health, hospice, etc.) for the geographic region. From a finance perspective primary responsibilities include supporting the operating groups, identifying opportunities for process improvements, revenue enhancements, cost containments, and business and market share growth. The Regional Financial Analyst must work effectively with all levels of management, be proactive in identifying opportunities, be hands on in order to accomplish tasks, and take initiative to identify potential areas for improvements. The position must work in conjunction with centralized Accounting, Reimbursement, Budget, Cost Accounting, Revenue Integrity, and Decision Support areas. The position must analyze data from multiple sources and inputs using Excel, Access, SQL, and other technology to create meaningful information to be used by leadership for informed decision making. In addition the Regional Financial Analyst must stay abreast of current healthcare reform topics and help lead efforts to adopt and pilot new reimbursement models as appropriate, provide education about current and future healthcare topics and impending legislation, support the creation of impact analyses, and model financial impacts. A strong collaborative team member approach and the ability to participate on multiple concurrent initiatives is required. Demonstrated ability to problem solve by facilitating team or group activities and demonstrated leadership qualities including professional verbal and written communication skills as well as outstanding problem solving and data analysis skills are also required. The Regional Financial Analyst must also have demonstrated ability to work independently, to be flexible and to prioritize workload, decision-making skills, and professional development through participation in continuing education and professional organizations.
Education: Bachelors Degree in Finance, Accounting, Accounting Information Systems, or Business Administration Required. Minor in Information Technology or Computer Science Preferred. MBA preferred.
Certification: Certified Healthcare Finance Professional (CHFP) from HFMA preferred.
Experience: Prefer at least 3 years healthcare finance experience. Demonstrated aptitude and ability to extract data from information systems using various report writers and software packages required. In depth knowledge of Microsoft Excel required (VBA preferred). Working knowledge of databases and database software required (i.e. Microsoft Access and SQL).
