Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital located in Onancock, Virginia (Eastern Shore) is currently seeking a Full Time Carpenter to join their team.

Job Summary: Utilizes carpentry skills to modify or renovate existing areas. Utilizes construction knowledge to order materials necessary to complete minor construction projects. Utilizes craftsmanship skills to install cabinetry and hardware. Utilizes blue prints to develop construction work and estimate costs and time needed to complete projects. Performs locksmith and door construction/repair work. Performs floor/tile replacement work. Performs welding as needed. Performs specialized plumbing work for smaller repair/construction jobs as requested. Assists other Facilities Engineering Department personnel on hospital repairs/projects. Recognizes limitations and seeks assistance in making corrections. Maintains self-control when placed in stressful situations. Observes guidelines for meals and breaks. Demonstrates good radio and telephone etiquette. Attends staff meetings. Attends all required in-services, training, and continuing education provided. Completes required CBL modules in Net Learning. Reviews the Facilities Engineering Department Policies and Procedures at least annually. Ability to operate a computer and use computer software. Subject to on-call coverage, shift changes and emergency 12 hour shifts (i.e. snow removal, hurricane clean up, etc.). Snow removal/storm clean-up includes, but is not limited to shoveling and cleaning of entrance ways, walkways and parking lots of snow, ice and/or debris. Assists with the clean-up of spills. This position is expected to perform basic maintenance tasks on, but not limited to the following equipment/systems: pneumatic tube system, drop ceilings, nurse call system, patient over-bed light, patient bed, television, HVAC wall induction unit, toilet, sink, bathroom light, shower and medical gas.

Education: High school graduate or GED with 2 year vocational or trade school required.

Certification: Contractors license preferred.

Experience: 3 years of experience in commercial or residential contracting required.

Hours: 7:00 am-3:30 pm. Must have on call availability.
