This Full Time Transportation Orderly position offers a fast paced, high-energy opportunity to be a part of a highly effective clinical team providing patient care at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital. Works under the supervision of the Med-Surg Nurse Manager, Coordinator or the Nursing Supervisor (in the absence of the Manager/Coordinator in transporting patients to testing and treatment areas. When not transporting patients for testing, this position, works with the med/Surg charge nurse to identify other patient care needs such as ambulation, answering call bells, making patient rounds and communicating patient needs to the assigned nurse. other duties that this position may be assigned consist of cleaning equipment, straightening the unit, ensuring that equipment is in it's proper place and ready for use. Provides transport support to registration for patients scheduled for out patient procedures such as blood transfusions or out patient antibiotics when volunteers are not available. When deemed necessary by the nursing supervisor, this position offers transportation support to the Emergency Department. In addition, this position must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served in assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and provide the care needed as described according to the departmental policy and procedure. Promotes and maintains safe work environment for staff as well as our customers, incorporating national patient safety initiatives.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience: Prior experience in acute health care setting preferred.

Hours: Full Time; Day shift, 7:00am-3:30pm. Includes every other weekend.
