Works under the supervision of the ED nurse manager, ED supervisor, and charge nurse. Greets and assists patients and
visitors as they enter or exit the ED. In addition, the position must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide
care appropriate to the age of the patient served on his or her assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the
principles of growth and development over the life span. Must also possess the ability to collect data reflective of the patients
status and assist with the interpretation of appropriate information needed to identify each patients requirements relative to age
specific needs as describes in the departmental policy and procedure guide. Also responsible for accurate intake and processing
of patients registration information.
High school graduate preferred. Also prefer one of the following: completion and certification of a nursing assistant course,
completion and certification of emergency medical technician basic, certified CPR instructor, completion of at least 80 hours of
clinical instruction in an accredited nursing program, or a medical assistant.
