EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of an approved Lab Liaison Technician or Phlebotomy Technician training program. Qualified by education, training or experience to work with the neonate, infant, adolescent, adult and/or geriatric patient population as specialty assignment dictates.
EXPERIENCE: Six months blood collection/phlebotomy experience in a hospital setting required.
LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION: Current CPR/BLS certification required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Exhibits knowledge and technical skills required to implement phlebotomy services as demonstrated through practices, obtaining, preparing and testing blood/specimen.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively/professionally with hospital staff, patients, family, visitors, and physicians under routine and stressful situations.
- Demonstrates excellent written and oral communication skills. Available to participate in call-in rotation.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Constant walking, stooping and bending; exposure to infectious agents. Light Work - exerting up to 30 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
