The AR Coding Technician is responsible for billing and follow-up on all claims involving insurance agencies as well as patient responsibility. Must be able to problem solve in order to find a resolution which will enable physician claims to get paid timely and accurately. Must be able to provide excellent customer service and support in receiving, researching and resolving all customer inquiries related to physician accounts. Must have a thorough and demonstrated knowledge of all tasks related to pre-access and post-service, account resolution and customer service. Understanding of Call Center processes is preferred. Must be able to handle large volumes of correspondence from all payers and accurately resolve issues with minor supervision. Position will be required to work closely with all payers in order to resolve appeals and find speedy resolution to denials.
Minimum Qualifications for AR Coding Tech I:
Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED. Satisfactory completion of a coding program preferred. One or more year's work experience in a medical physician office, or directly related billing experience, with knowledge in medical terminology and billing. Work experience involving CPT coding and ICD-10 coding is required. Knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuation is mandatory.
Licensure/Certification: No certification required.

Other: Employees located in Physician Billing and Collections departments (01-7310, 50-7310, and 50-7332) are required to work a minimum of one weekend a month along with occasional holiday work. Overtime will vary with workload and employee must be available for overtime according to business needs.
