Requires knowledge and previous work experience with CoC (Commission on Cancer) accreditation is preferred.
Must be a Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) Certified through the National Cancer Registrars Association.
Job Summary: Manages, develops and evaluates all aspects of the Cancer Registry for the entire health system (Saint Francis Hospital; Saint Francis South; and Warren Clinic. Oversees and coordinates activities for Cancer Committee, all tumor conferences and accreditation by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer for the cancer program.
Education: Bachelor's Degree in healthcare or closely related field.
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR).
Work Experience: Two years experience in cancer registry or data management field required as well as supervisory responsibilities
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to maintain a compassionate, caring attitude towards patients and families as well as with physicians/employees. Working knowledge of cancer registry practice, policies, and procedures; medical terminology, tumor nomenclature, and diagnostic/procedural coding. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access as might be required in the production of graphs and reports. Effective skill in abstracting and coding patient medical record information. Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. Ability to organize and prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner. Ability to be detail oriented as required in the examination of clinical and numerical data.
