The Jefferson School is a year round special education day school and residential school serving students ages 12 to 21 with severe emotional and behavioral disabilities who need a specialized educational environment, complete with a therapeutic milieu and recreational and community based activities. The program is located in western Frederick County, which is about 15 miles from Frederick and 50 miles from Baltimore and Washington D.C.
As an Education/Treatment Assistant (ETA) you will:
Assist assigned students in the development, implementation, and maintenance of a therapeutic environment in the residential and school setting
Provide additional structure, instruction, and supervision in support of the student's Individualized Treatment Plan (ITP) and the Individualized Education Program (IEP)
Serve as a member of assigned treatment team
Actively participate in the daily activities and functioning of the overall residential and educational programs
Bachelor's prepared Education/Treatment Assistants may be responsible for leading classroom activities in the absence of the supervising teacher
High school diploma; Bachelor's degree strongly preferred
Must be over 21 years of age.
Must have at least 1 month of proven related classroom support experience working as an instructional assistant; experience working with adolescents with severe emotional/behavioral disturbances strongly preferred
Valid driver's license at time of appointment and must meet Sheppard Pratt requirements to operate a school vehicle
