As a Central Staffing Coordinator, you will:

·       Assist in coordinating the schedules and assignments of nursing staff, including per diem/float pool and regular personnel on units and Central Staffing Office Drivers. 

·       Follow Clinical Services policies and practices to make staffing adjustments in response to employee call outs and changes in staffing needs.

·       Delegate duties and communicates staffing changes, either directly or through Central Staffing Assistants. 

·       Make staffing decisions based on specified polices/practices, which include consideration of the planned staffing guidelines for units; unit acuity and needs specific to the shift; knowledge, skills and competencies of staff; and unit staffing budgets. 

·       Maintain documentation of unit staffing changes and patterns; compiles data for reports as needed.

·       Prepare and modify nursing schedules as needed. 

·       Administer on-call rotation for after-hours call-outs and scheduling changes.

·       Orient and train new department and nurse managers/unit staff to central staffing policies and practices.

 

Requires:

·       High school diploma and 2-3 years' administrative/clinical work experience in a clinical setting, including at least one year of staffing experience. 

·       Understanding of patient acuity and staffing needs to address it

·       Hours of care standards

·       Experience with clinical/administrative policy administration

·       Strong verbal and written communication skills

·       Ability to perform arithmetic computation and maintain accurate data

·       Ability to manage a high call volume

·       Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

·       Effective interpersonal skills to efficiently collect critical information for recommending changes in nursing staff schedules; to interact effectively with nursing management and staff at all levels; and to clearly communicate staffing changes (51-80% of work time).

·       Problem-solving abilities sufficient to effectively follow established policy that requires multiple considerations:  patient acuity, use of qualified staff, most efficient use of resources, and fair treatment of employees.

·       Constant (more than 80% of work time) adaptation to multiple demands for the individual's time and energy and produces a high level of stress and mental fatigue.
