Summary: This position works under the supervision the Director (or his/her designee) of the Outpatient Mental Health Center (OMHC). The Senior Psychotherapist provides clinical services to assigned clients and clinical and administrative supervision to a team of clinicians. Services may include: clinical assessments; treatment planning; individual, family, play and group psychotherapy/counseling; and maintenance of medical records and documentation. Clinical Supervision is provided in accordance to relevant board regulations and under the employment contract of supervisees. The Senior Psychotherapist attends all required meetings and in-service education. The Senior Psychotherapist participates in providing after-hours telephone response (on-call) services to OMHC clients as assigned. The Senior Psychotherapist provides clinical and administrative supervision and clinical case monitoring to OMHC Psychotherapists as assigned.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides clinical assessment and treatment services to assigned clients. These services may include:
    • Clinical assessments
    • Treatment planning
    • Individual psychotherapy/counseling
    • Family psychotherapy/counseling
    • Group psychotherapy/counseling
    • Crisis intervention/safety planning
    • Treatment monitoring, evaluation, termination, and referral
    • Consultation and collaboration with relevant OMHC and other service providers
  • Maintains demonstrated proficiency in multiple evidence-based therapeutic treatment modalities and techniques which address each client's unique needs including, but not limited to, person-centered treatment; supportive insight-oriented therapies; psychodynamic therapeutic techniques; cognitive-behavioral therapeutic techniques; among other treatment modalities and techniques.
  • Maintains demonstrated proficiency in motivational interviewing and other techniques specifically designed for clinical work with persons with substance use disorders alone or in combination with mental health disorders (dually diagnosed).
  • Provides billable services to clients during at least 75% of working time.
  • Provides individual and group clinical supervision on an alternating-week basis to OMHC Psychotherapists and interns as assigned to ensure appropriate clinical assessment and service delivery to OMHC clients in compliance with OMHC policies and procedures and with State of Maryland Supervision Regulations found in COMAR 10.42.08.
  • Provides clinical and administrative case monitoring to OMHC Psychotherapists and interns as assigned, including:
    • Assisting with clinical training
    • Signing off on Psychotherapists' and interns' billing tickets, psychosocial assessments, progress notes, individual treatment plans, and transfer/discharge summaries
    • Overseeing Psychotherapists' and interns' adherence to required documentation timelines and maintenance of client charts
  • Completes all required documentation in a timely manner and ensures maintenance of complete clinical record at all times for each assigned client as directed by OMHC policies and procedures, including but not limited to:
    • Obtaining necessary insurance validations and authorizations for services for assigned clients within required timelines
    • Completing clinical psychosocial assessments for each new client within required timelines and updating assessments on an annual basis
    • Completing initial and subsequent Individual Treatment Plans (ITPs) within required timelines
    • Documenting and filing progress notes within 24 hours of each psychotherapy/counseling session
    • Obtaining and maintaining accurate client personal data, consents, and relevant collateral documentation
    • Completing accurate and timely billing tickets for each billable service delivered
    • Responding to failed appointments by clients with documented outreach and/or timely notification of discharge
    • Completing all required discharge documentation within required timelines
    • Maintaining all assigned client mental health charts at all times in good and complete order.
  • Attends and/or obtains minutes of weekly staff meetings to remain abreast of program issues, policy and procedure changes, and training content.
  • Participates in agency required meetings and in-service programs.
  • Completes required agency reports.
  • Completes on-call duty as assigned.
  • Performs all duties in compliance with OMHC policies and procedures and with State of Maryland COMAR 10.21 Regulations.

Requires: Maintains license in good standing in the State of Maryland as Licensed Certified Social Worker – Clinical (LCSW-C).

Compensation: Compensation for all work performed is in accordance with the "Compensation Fee Schedule" and annual performance evaluations.
