Summary: The Youth and Family Counselor is responsible for providing long-term mental health counseling to school age youth and their families referred to the program. The position involves collaborative work with school counselors and other community agencies to provide individual, family and group counseling; skill development groups; parent/ community education programs; information and referral to needed services; substance abuse screening/ assessments; and school/community outreach. CSYS programs are designed to strengthen families, build resilience, develop pro?social skills and attitudes and minimize the influence of street gangs, bullying, negative peer pressure and drug/alcohol use.
