  • Job Summary: To provide transportation for the Skilled Nursing Unit residents to and from scheduled activities and appointments as approved by Skilled Nursing Unit Administration. To provide the protocol to insure the safety of volunteers and residents. Performs routine nursing care duties under the supervision of a professional nurse.

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Must be able to operate the van and lift. Must be able to maneuver wheelchairs. Must be able to assist in toileting residents to and from destinations. Must be able to work independently and communicate with residents. Must be familiar with or confident in learning to handle a van. Must be friendly and capable of relating well to Skilled Nursing Unit residents and their families. Must be willing to submit age and license number for hospital insurance purposes. Must also have knowledge of standards to assist in the delivery of resident care, equipment to assist in administering resident care, common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with residents, employees, physicians and the public.

    Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.

    License/Certification/Registration: Current PA driver's license required. CPR certification required. Must maintain current enrollment in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Program. Must maintain a minimum of 12 hours annual continuing education.

    Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Tact in dealing with residents, families, employees, physicians and the public. Strenuous physical demands to resident care. Continuous standing, walking, stooping, bending and twisting. Requires sitting, walking, driving, ascending and descending stairs or curbs while assisting patients. Requires depth perception and eye/hand coordination. Requires some reaching and lifting of objects and then carrying for distances. Requires hearing and communicating. Requires heavy lifting up to 100 pounds and carrying items weighing up to 50 pounds. Good judgment, decision-making, time management and memory required. Varying degrees of stress. Primary is travel to multiple sites outdoors including inclement weather and some indoor and hospital areas.
