    Job Summary: To provide activity services and to assist with department functions through completion of supportive duties.

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Ability to adapt to changing work environment, thorough knowledge of recreation activities and equipment, skill in establishing relationships with residents, and ability to work with large and small groups. Good judgment, decision making, time management and memory required. Tact in dealing with residents, families, employees, physicians and the public. Good writing skills, ability to learn medical terminology, illness, disability, and normal aging process, as they apply to recreation participation. Ability to write, read, speak and comprehend English.

    Education: Minimum of high school graduate or equivalent. Prefer current enrollment in the Pennsylvania Department of Health Nurse Aide Training and Competency evaluation Program.

    Experience: Work or volunteer experience providing recreation services to special populations or senior citizens.

    License/Certification/Registration: Preferred certified nursing assistant and CPR certified.

    Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Requires full range of body motion. Requires corrected and color vision and hearing to normal range. Manual dexterity to operate assessment and common office tools. Requires ability to manage high volume workload. Occasional local travel. Ability to tolerate varying levels of stress. Continuous standing, walking, stooping, bending and twisting. Pushing wheelchairs, Geri chairs and carts. Works in office area, activity areas, at bedside, and occasionally in community setting. Requires heavy lifting up to 50 pounds and carrying items weighing up to 25 pounds. Potential for exposure to communicable diseases and body fluids. Varying degrees of stress.
