Works under the supervision of the Treasury Systems Administrator. The Patient Accounts Cashier’s primary job function is to verify and accurately apply payments taken at the Cashier’s window to the appropriate patient account for SOMC and SOMC entities. This position is responsible for balancing cash receipts to the bank deposits and maintaining accurate and organized records of all daily cash transactions and adjustments. Performs other duties as assigned.
GED/High School Diploma required. Basic accounting/bookkeeping/data entry skills obtained in high school or post high school(six months or less).
Six to twelve months of related work experience is required.

A moderate level of communication skills necessary to interact with patients, co-workers and outside professionals. Must be professional and courteous at all times.
E. Essential Technical/Motor Skills
Ability to operate in various computer systems, 10 key calculator, typewriter, copier and telephone.
F. Essential Physical Requirements
The physical demand level for this position is sedentary, light. Occasionally lifts 15 pound and frequently lift 10 pounds or less. Stands and/or walks one to four hours, with regular break when photocopying and performing other clerical duties. Sits for five to eight hours per day, with regular breaks, when processing payment information and entering data into computer system. Must have the ability to use hands for repetitive, simple grasping, fine manipulation, and pushing and pulling in performance of duties. Bending, squatting, climbing, crawling and reaching above shoulder are occasionally required.

Must be able to resolve patient issues regarding payments. Must be able to work under constant deadlines. Must pay attention to details continuously. Must be able to cope with irregular work schedules. Must be able to work without the assistance of other personnel. A moderate level of analytical ability is necessary to gather and interpret financial/statistical data.
H. Essential Sensory Requirements
Good vision is needed when entering data into the computer system, and the ability to hear and speak clearly is continuously required when dealing with customers.
