Works under the supervision of the Support Services Manager. The Specimen Processor’s primary job function is to register, order/label, accession and prepares all specimens for laboratory testing. Performs other duties as assigned.
GED/High School Diploma required Six months post-secondary education or training preferred
Previous client services and/or registration experience preferred. Knowledge of computer software including Lotus and WordPerfect helpful.
D. Interpersonal Skills
Excellent interpersonal skills necessary when acting as a resource for clients, physicians and other members of the hospital staff. Ability to resolve problems efficiently.
E. Essential Technical/Motor Skills
Ability to type and operate computer terminal quickly and accurately. Ability to efficiently operate telephone, copier (delete Xerox), fax and other office equipment.
F. Essential Physical Requirements
Ability to use hands for repetitive type and computer entry. Sits for five to eight hours per day. Occasionally lifts 20 pounds and frequently carries 10 pounds or less.

Ability to follow established procedures. Ability to pay close attention to detail. Must adjust to fluctuations in workload and meet established deadlines

Good vision is required to proofread reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with the public.
