Job Details:

    The Nurse Manager reports to the Director of Heart & Vascular Services. The primary job function is to plan, organize, and manage the delivery of patient care activities and maintain quality care in compliance with unit policies and procedures. Supports each Strategic Value by providing exceptional care to those we serve.


    A. Education
    Graduate of accredited school of nursing required.   Bachelors Degree in Nursing required.
    Certification in specialty preferred

    B. Licensure
    RN(OH) required

    C. Experience
    Approximately two to three years progressively more responsible related work experience with two years concurrent experience in assigned specialty, necessary in order to gain full knowledge of organization and operation of a patient care unit. In-depth knowledge of patient care theories and practices as applied to a specific patient population.

    D. Interpersonal Skills
    Ability to develop positive interactions with patients, patient families, physicians, and staff in order to effectively care for the patient.

    E. Essential Technical/Motor Skills
    Hand/eye coordination in order to give injections, draw blood, start IVs, use computer, etc. Speak clearly to communicate with patients, patient families, staff, and physicians regarding patient condition and care.

    F. Essential Physical Requirements
    The physical demand is heavy. Occasionally lifts in excess of 100 pounds and frequently carries 50 pounds. Stands or walks greater than 50% of the day with regular breaks when assessing and interviewing patients and providing skilled nursing. Sits for one to three hours per day when reviewing diagnostic data and completing required documentation. Ability to use hands for repetitive simple grasping, fine manipulation, and pushing and pulling when attending to a patient’s physical needs, operating patient care equipment, and recording responses to medications and treatment.

    G. Essential Mental Requirements
    Has considerable contact with the general public and customer when performing all aspects of job. Occasionally works under close supervision and without the assistance of other personnel. Requires the ability to cope with deadlines, adjust to irregular activity schedules, concentrates, and pay close attention to detail when performing patient assessments, completing required documentation and preparing and administering medication.

    H. Essential Sensory Requirements
    Good vision is required when providing skilled nursing, reviewing diagnostic data, and completing required documentation. The ability to communicate clearly is required when instructing and comforting patients and their families and maintaining effective contact with physicians and a variety of hospital personnel.

    I. Exposure to Hazards
    Works in good physical surroundings. Occasionally exposed to dust, odors, body fluids, toxic substances, unpleasant patient care activities, and infectious diseases. Frequently exposed to noise.
