Job Summary: The Infection Control Practitioner is a qualified individual with knowledge of CDC guidelines and definitions of nosocomial infections, JCAHO standards, federal and state regulations. She/He is responsible for the identification, investigation, reporting, prevention and control of nosocomial infections among residents and personnel. By authority of the Infection Control Committee, she/he may institute collection of cultures and initiate appropriate isolation precautions. Responsible for assisting with inservice programs related to infection prevention and control.
· Current Massachusetts RN licensure
· Minimum 5 years experience in a supervisory position in a hospital or five years in infection control.
· Member of the Association of Practitioners of Infection Control and Epidemiology.
· Working knowledge of microbiology, epidemiology, infectious diseases, aseptic techniques and current practices.
