Clinical Leader - ICU/CCU Departments
Rotation and weekends as required
The Clinical Leader in the Intensive Care Environment is responsible for the continuity of high quality care, patient flow and resource utilization on a day to day basis.
• Collaborates and communicates with the nursing leadership team to ensure quality critical care practices on a daily basis.
• Leads multidisciplinary rounds and cross service consultations to endure continuity and progressive diagnostics toward daily treatment goals.
• Leads daily staff huddles, fosters team development and coordinates with nursing education and leadership to ensure staff competencies and business development.
• Communicates and coordinates daily treatment and diagnostics to facilitate patient flow and resource utilization in the ICU and ensuring appropriate length of stay.
• Collaboratively plans and prepares patient/family for discharge incorporating support systems/resources necessary.
• Leads, maintains and supports ongoing performance improvement initiatives and projects specific to the organizational and unit based needs.
• Provides critical patient care based on standards of care, standards of practice, protocols and established policies and procedures.
• Appropriately prioritizes patient care (e.g. seeks assistance as needed from appropriate resources, reassigns personnel as necessary, recognizes need for emergency intervention, etc.)
• Provides thorough, timely and accurate documentation of all pertinent data, therapeutic interventions and patient responses including assessment, care plan, patient goals and interventions according to established standards.
• Proactively identifies risk to patient safety and identifies opportunities to reduce medical/health care errors (i.e. appropriate reporting of errors/incidents).
• Safely administers medications and intravenous therapy in accordance with physician's orders, protocols, policies and procedures.
• Participates in organizational committee meetings
• Readily accepts accountability for designated patient and effectively hands off patient as required.
• Other duties as assigned such as response to code blue or rapid responses when needed.
• BSN, MA RN License and BLS, and ACLS Required.
• Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in an Acute Adult Critical Care Environment.
• Demonstrated clinical competence in CICU and nursing practice preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in staff development and project development.
• TNCC and CCRN required within the first 12 months of hire.
• IABP and CVVH experience preferred.
