Job Details:

QUALIFICATIONS
High school graduate; at least one year secretarial experience; medical terminology and computer skills including the use of databases and spreadsheets in a Windows NT environment; excellent interpersonal skills.

This is a per diem position working weekday shifts 8:30am - 5:00pm.

RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Interpersonal Skills
A. Welcome clients in a manner that conveys caring.
B. Respond promptly and efficiently to inquiries in person and by telephone.
C. Respect diversity and dignity of clients.
D. Maintain patient confidentiality.
E. Demonstrate effective use of verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills.
F. Regularly offer and request constructive feedback and coaching.
G. Foster teamwork.
H. Attend and contribute to Cardiology/Respiratory staff meetings.

2. Work Responsibilities
A. Coordinates operation of cardiology office to ensure smooth daily operations.
B. Screen incoming calls, directing to appropriate personnel.
C. Process all department correspondence.
D. Assist department administrators with planning and scheduling meetings and conferences.
E. Maintain department files.
F. Transcribe and type correspondence, memoranda, reports, policies and procedures, editing for grammar and composition.
G. Maintain record of services rendered by department for statistical, clinical and financial data.
H. Enters charges and reconciles charges.
I. Facilitate communication with outside vendors.  Coordinate with Bio-Med and other repair services for equipment repair.
J. Provide information to community about available programs or hospital services and resources.
K. Demonstrate ability to organize time, schedule and workload.
L. Demonstrate flexibility in meeting department needs.

3. Professional Growth
A. Attend yearly program on fire safety, infection control, and abuse awareness.
B. Participate in CQI/QIP activities.
C. Foster the mission statement and values of the institution.
D. Assume responsibility for own professional development.
