St. Francis Medical Center (SFMC) is dedicated to serving the healthcare needs of the communities of Southeast Los Angeles. We operate a 384-bed acute care hospital and one of the largest and busiest private emergency trauma centers in Los Angeles County -- treating more than 84,000 children and adults each year. Last year, more than 5,000 babies were born at SFMC's Family Life Center, with 875 babies cared for in our state-of-the-art Neonatal Intensive Care Center. We are a Primary Stroke Care Center and STEMI Receiving Center, both of which are approved by the Los Angeles County Emergency Medical Services Agency.


This position is responsible for coordinating and supporting the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of hospital wide education. Provides support to management staff in ensuring that staff development activities are consistent with current education and accreditation standards. Develops in-service education programs and evaluates the effectiveness and outcomes of these programs. Oversees education related to new equipment, policies and procedures, and quality initiatives. Evaluates and prioritizes all educational requests in a timely manner. Participates in hospital initiatives and collaborates with management to identify learning opportunities.

  • Bachelor's Degree Required Master's Degree Preferred.
  • Current CA RN License required.
  • Current BLS required.
  • Current ACLS and PALS preferred.
Work Experience:
  • Two years recent educator experience preferred.


  • Excellent communication and training skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) capability preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning principles.

Physical Demand Analysis:

  • Must continuously (66% to 100% of a work day):
    • Walking on tile floors.

    • Twisting and bending of the neck forward and  backward.
    • Wrist rotation and deviation.
    • Repetitive hand use/keyboard.
    • Use of upper extremities in reaching above shoulder level. Must occasionally (11% to 33% of a work  day).
    • Lift and carry a minimum of 15 lbs.
    • Squatting, stooping, and climbing.
