St. Francis Medical Center (SFMC) is dedicated to serving the healthcare needs of the communities of Southeast Los Angeles. We operate a 384-bed acute care hospital and one of the largest and busiest private emergency trauma centers in Los Angeles County -- treating more than 84,000 children and adults each year. Last year, more than 5,000 babies were born at SFMC's Family Life Center, with 875 babies cared for in our state-of-the-art Neonatal Intensive Care Center. We are a Primary Stroke Care Center and STEMI Receiving Center, both of which are approved by the Los Angeles County Emergency Medical Services Agency.

 

GENERAL PURPOSE:

This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of St. Francis Medical Center. It is expected that the associate holding this position will demonstrate behaviors consistent with our core values and will comply with all required standards governing our commitment to Compassionate Care, Exemplary Service and serving our patients. The associate holding this position will support St. Francis Medical Center's strategic plan and all essential elements of Quality Improvement and Financial Stewardship.

 

MAJOR JOB OBJECTIVES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Assesses patient and family health problems and resources. Takes a leadership role in the development, implementation, and outcomes evaluation of a plan for nursing care provided by the nursing team. Responsible for providing technical nursing care and interventions to designated patient  populations.

 

This position requires providing care and service to an adult through geriatric patient population. The associate is responsible for providing age appropriate care to medically stable rehabilitating individuals in a manner that demonstrates an understanding of the functional and developmental age of the individual  served.

 

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

  • Current CA RN License or Interim Permit
  • Current BLS- C {AHA) card

Work Experience:

  • One year acute care experience preferred

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Bilingual -   English/Spanish preferred
  • Basic computer skills

 

PHYSICAL DEMAND ANALYSIS

Must continuously (66% to 100% of a work day):

  • Be able to walk on tile floors
  • Stand to do patient care and documentation

Must frequently (34% to 66% of a work day):

  • Use wrist rotation/deviation
  • Waist bending while standing
  • Twisting and bending of the neck forward

Must occasionally (11% to 33% of a work day):

  • Making use of bilateral upper extremities and hands in reaching above shoulder level
  • Stooping and squatting to do patient care
  • Caring and lifting a minimum of 15 pounds
