St. Francis Medical Center (SFMC) is dedicated to serving the healthcare needs of the communities of Southeast Los Angeles. We operate a 384-bed acute care hospital and one of the largest and busiest private emergency trauma centers in Los Angeles County -- treating more than 84,000 children and adults each year. Last year, more than 5,000 babies were born at SFMC's Family Life Center, with 875 babies cared for in our state-of-the-art Neonatal Intensive Care Center. We are a Primary Stroke Care Center and STEMI Receiving Center, both of which are approved by the Los Angeles County Emergency Medical Services Agency.

 

GENERAL PURPOSE:

Under Administrative direction, accesses, plans and evaluates the delivery of patient care with 24-hour responsibility for total department management.  Provides administrative direction to development and evaluation of clinical care personnel, and maintains operational aspects of the patient care unit in collaboration with support services.  Contributes to nursing and the hospital through support of core values, philosophy, objectives, educational and research efforts.  The position requires providing managerial and administrative supervision to a department that provides care and service to an adolescent through geriatric patient population.

 

Works collaboratively with all members of the management team and Medical Staff, towards achievement of the Medical Center's goals and objectives.  Provides on-going leadership in the areas of financial accountability, personal development, and quality care/service for assigned areas and functions.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor's in nursing or related healthcare field – Master's preferred
  • Current CA RN License
  • Current BLS-C (AHA)
  • Current ACLS preferred

Work Experience:

  • Five years recent Emergency Services experience
  • Three to Five years management experience required

Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Bilingual (English & Spanish) capability preferred
