St. Francis Medical Center (SFMC) is dedicated to serving the healthcare needs of the communities of Southeast Los Angeles. We operate a 384-bed acute care hospital and one of the largest and busiest private emergency trauma centers in Los Angeles County -- treating more than 84,000 children and adults each year. Last year, more than 5,000 babies were born at SFMC's Family Life Center, with 875 babies cared for in our state-of-the-art Neonatal Intensive Care Center. We are a Primary Stroke Care Center and STEMI Receiving Center, both of which are approved by the Los Angeles County Emergency Medical Services Agency.
This position patrols hospital premises, inspects hospital lighting and other utilities, fire escapes and stairwells to ensure proper lighting and that areas are free of obstructions. Reports any discrepancies for corrective action, prepares reports Performs fire/safety checks, participates in all fire, safety and disaster drills, investigates incidents of injury involving visitors, performs special escorts and surveillance. The Security Officer must communicate effectively with all internal and external contacts to enforce hospital policies as directed.

High School graduate or equivalent
One year High Rise / Hospital Security Experience preferred
Fire/Hazard Training, military police, state approved.
Fire/Police Academy preferred
Basic computer skills preferred
Ability to read and write reports
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
Current California State Guard Card (No Temp)
Current and valid California Driver's License
Baton Permit (or must be obtained within thirty (30) days of hire)
Pepper Spray Permit (or must be obtained within sixty (60) days of hire)
Current BLS-(AHA) Card (or must be obtained within sixty (60) days of hire)
